Throat and Larynx
The throat (pharynx) is easily visualised by looking into the mouth. The main structures seen in the throat are the tonsils, the back of the pharynx, the uvula. What is not so easily seen on direct examination is the lower part of the pharynx, called the oropharynx and the larynx (voice box). The pharynx connects the mouth to the larynx, trachea and lungs. It also connects the mouth to the esophagus (food passage).
